The bags are unpacked (mostly), the sunscreen is applied, and we are officially poolside! After months of planning, our family adventure in Tunisia has finally begun, and it is safe to say we have exchanged our normal routine for some serious North African sunshine.
The Journey
HereOur trip started with an early flight, which is always a bit of a gamble with the family in tow. Luckily, the flight was smooth sailing. The kids stayed entertained with a mix of window-seat views of the Mediterranean and their favorite screens, while we finally got a moment to sit back and anticipate the week ahead. Stepping off the plane, the warm air hit us instantly—a beautiful preview of the tropical climate waiting for us.
Checking In and Cooling Down
Arriving at our hotel was an absolute dream. The architecture is stunning, wrapped in traditional whitewashed walls and vibrant blue trim that makes you feel instantly transported. The staff welcomed us with open arms (and much-appreciated cold drinks), and the kids immediately spotted the pool and made it their personal mission to jump in as soon as possible.
Current Status: Melting!
It is currently just past 9:00 AM, and the thermometer is already creeping toward a blazing 40°C (104°F)! The heat here is intense but amazing—the kind that makes you want to move in slow motion and stay within arm's reach of a cold beverage. We are currently hiding under a massive straw umbrella, listening to the palms rustle, and planning a very low-key first day centered entirely around water.
We can’t wait to explore the local markets, ancient ruins, and nearby beaches once the day cools down a bit. But for now? It’s time to dive into that pool.Stay tuned for more updates from the sunny side of the Mediterranean!
